I am not a Republican and never have been. Especially in this messy time, when Trump’s influence has spread among his followers like hardening concrete, even as his popularity wanes along with the rise of mounting legal problems.

Into this disarray enters Liz Cheney, whose very conservative beliefs I have never espoused. However … however, feisty Ms. Cheney is one of the few Republicans who has had the guts to stand up to Trump. An honest and principled politician, imagine that!

For her courage, I have to applaud her. For her independence of thought and action, I might just have to vote for her even though I don’t necessarily agree with her views, particularly on abortion. Why? Because honesty is such a rarity in politics. And honesty is what I crave.
