Lilly Ledbetter Painting Featured on the Cover of Time Magazine

In February of 2020, I was asked to paint a Time Magazine cover of Lilly Ledbetter. Ledbetter (born Lilly McDaniel; April 14, 1938) is an American woman who was the plaintiff in the United States Supreme Court case Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. regarding employment discrimination.

I was given a week to produce the portrait, which I have to tell you was a total thrill. The cover and article were part of 100 Women of the Year, TIME’s list of the most influential women of the past century.
